THE dug-outs at the Collie Eagles Football Club could be re-built before the next home game against Carey Park.
Collie Shire Council has allocated $10,000 for the installation of three new brick dug-outs at the Collie Recreation Ground and the football club has agreed to help with the construction.
Collie Eagles secretary Ray Cooper said the club had ordered the bricks and hopefully the dug-outs would be completed within two to three weeks.
When the dug-outs were knocked down in April, Collie Shire chief executive Jason Whiteaker told the Collie Mail they had been deemed too dangerous to remain standing.
Despite being torn down days before the Triple J One Night Stand, he said they would have been pulled down anyway and they were not removed because of the concert.
However the agenda of the last Collie Shire Council meeting stated council staff were concerned people at the event would climb the structures to gain a better view of the stage over the crowd.
Mr Whiteaker said at this stage it appeared as though council would pay for the materials and the club would organise their construction.
Councillor Glyn Yates said council should not charge the football club anything at all because council pulled them down for the concert.
“They agreed to providing the use of the field during football season so we should not be asking them to help erect new ones,” he said.
Cr Yates said the club gained very little from the concert and even lost revenue.
Cr Ian Miffling said the club should contribute some costs to make it fair for other sporting clubs.
Executive manager of technical services Les Vidovich has been working with the Collie Eagles Football Club in regards to the materials to be used for the dug-outs and also their role in having them erected.
The concrete dug-outs were used by South West Football League players and coaching staff during games but players have been using portable structures for home games.
