Joan’s a National winner

3/07/2008 4:12:00 PM
LONG-serving Collie Mail office manager Joan Evans was acknowledged at the annual Fairfax Media sales awards presentation in Sydney last Friday night when presented with the award for Best Regional Sales and Administration Support employee.

Joan has been with the newspaper for over 40 years and the award was an acknowledgement of her commitment to both the Collie Mail and the WA Rural Press regional newspapers, according to Fairfax’s WA Regional Manager, Joe Italiano.

“Joan has been handling National bookings on behalf of our various WA newspapers for many years,” Mr Italiano said. “She is the conduit between the various newspapers and our National advertising booking agencies.”

She is the first Collie employee to be acknowledged at the awards, although other WA staff have figured prominently over the years, with the company’s Busselton sales manager, Peta Radley, last Friday receiving the coveted Salesperson of the Year Award.

Mr Italiano said the awards got bigger each year with this year’s presentation and sales conference, held at the Sydney Convention Centre, being attended by some 450 staff representing some 250 newspapers.
